First Fridays Can Release! Hidden Hopyard 10 & Malt Shop IPA: Blackberry & Black Currant

Hidden Hopyard Series: Volume 10
7.5% ABV, 60 IBU
For our tenth installment in this limited hop series, we introduced a very unique American hop varietal called “Loral” into the recipe. This hop was released in 2016 and provides a complex blend of floral, citrus and dark fruit flavors. Accompanied by the additions of two different experimental hops, this beer will display an incredibly fruit forward aroma that gives way to a smooth juicy body and moderate hop bitterness in the finish.
Malt Shop IPA: Blackberry & Black Currant
8.o% ABV, 60 IBU
For the first Malt Shop recipe from our new Head Brewer, we decided to delve even deeper into the “Milkshake/Smoothie” IPA realm. The malt bill is comprised of primarily flaked wheat and oats followed by additions of lactose milk sugar. El Dorado, Azacca and Huell Melon hops were used in both the kettle and dry hop. We brought in hundreds of pounds of local blackberries and fresh black currant juice for this particular batch and added it right at the end of fermentation before conditioning on Vanilla Beans. This version displays a huge berry burst in both the flavor profile and aroma with a full body. The tropical and citrus forward hop character accompanies the fruit nicely along with a touch of vanilla in the finish.
